Communication in an organization based on credentials

Communication in an Organization Based on Credentials

People in the United States, Nakane argues, identify themselves by professional attributes such as job qualifications or credentials; they are accountants, salespersons, engineers, or carpenters.18 These job labels give Americans their professional identity, and they can take these professional credentials with them. A certified public accountant (CPA) license, for example, is valid in most states in the United States and is recognized in several other countries. More and more workers want to have portable credentials. Recently, for example, salespeople have been talking about a sales certificate that would be based on specific educational and work credentials.

Credentials are influenced by cultural priorities. The labels do not necessarily have the same meaning in different cultures. The label engineer does not mean the same educational level and expertise in all countries. Germans make clear distinctions between various levels of engineers. Russians use the term medical doctor much more loosely than Western countries do. One credential that is almost universally understood is the MBA. As a-result, universities in countries from China to Mexico to Portugal have established MBA programs because the MBA is an internationally recognized credential. Everyone knows that the MBA is a generalist management degree at the graduate level, and as a result, international Omega Replica hiring and evaluation of qualifications are made easier. For example, Germany for many years awarded the Staatsexamen as the official degree at the end of one’s studies. As long as most business was domestic, this presented no problems. However, with the growth of international business, people from other countries began to wonder what the Staatsexamen was. They did not have any idea how to categorize the qualifications. During the last few years several German universities have added the MBA program to their offerings.

In an effort to encourage mobility across Europe and create a European identity, the European Union is encouraging standardization of university degrees: three years for an undergraduate degree and an additional two years for graduate work.

Credentials contribute to the identity of an American businessperson. The identification with the firm for which Americans work is only part of their existence; it is not all-encompassing. In the United States an employee can enter and leave an organization at any level. A person can enter at the beginner level at the bottom or, as has happened at IBM, Kodak, and Home Depot, at the level of CEO. What counts are the qualifications the employee has, some of which may be credentials.
People want the job that best corresponds to their qualifications. In results-oriented cultures, if that means leaving the firm, that’s okay. In fact, most new graduates in the United States stay with their first companies for only three to four years. Career counselors tell them that they should reevaluate their employment situation on a regular basis and jump if a better opportunity presents itself. The emphasis is on individual advancement and individual opportunities, as discussed in Chapter 3. That, of course, has implications for training. In that environment training will be job-specific and brief. The employer wants to get some work out of the employee before the employee leaves the firm, and the employee wants to develop job attributes that are portable.

The emphasis on portable credentials and individual achievement influences communication within the firm. For example, if an employee is not absolutely loyal to the firm, how much should he or she be involved in sensitive discussions and issues? The tendency will be to concentrate on job-specific information and limit communication. As a result, it is more difficult to establish teamwork, which requires mutual trust and openness. Firms that operate within a low-context culture try to protect their confidential information through contracts. For example, an employee who has access to confidential information and leaves the firm may have to sign a statement specifying that she will not use any of that information. In these circumstances the emphasis in communication may be on safeguarding information rather than on long-term education, training, and sharing of information to reach company goals.

People who come from a cultural environment where relationships, commitment, and loyalty are important values may be puzzled by the constant Replica Watches personnel changes in U. S. firms. If Masataka Hyashi from Nagoya, Japan, talks about the possibilities of a joint venture to Patricia Lesch in Chicago today, there is no guarantee that Patricia Lesch will still be there a few weeks from now. When Hyashi contacts Chicago again, Lesch may have left the firm for better opportunities and someone else will have taken her place. The Japanese, for whom the building of personal relationships is a crucial aspect of doing business, may find the personnel changes in U.S. firms disorienting.

Norwegians and the nature

Norwegians And The Nature

In the unconscious of a traveler. Norway evokes a concept of an extreme land, of absolute north. The extreme north of Europe is known as Lapland, a land that straddles the Norwegian borders to include the northern part of Scandinavia and a small portion of Russia. The native population is the” Sami” who live traditionally on hunting and fishing, in symbiosis even if nowadays in a technological versions and fishing, in symbiosis, with their environment.

The capital of Norway. Oslo, has a population of barely half a million. The city ensures the necessary administrative and cultural cohesion of people who have a very strong sense of harmony with the nature, born in their distant Viking past and proudly cultivated throughout the years.

The Holmenkollen ski-jumping board is one of the Cartier Roadster Replica most famous symbols of Oslo. Norwegians’ relationship with skis goes very far back in time : indeed it is not improbable that even the vikings traversed Scandinavia on these wooden slats.

The fundamental relationship that Norwegians have with nature makes them open and uninhibited with respect to nudity ($$). Here, the human body is displayed with spontaneity and directness , like one of the many natural elements that blend in with the landscape.

In front of the square of the City Hall , the quay that overlooks the fjord — the Aker Brygge — has been attractively restructured and turned into a walk, a shopping centre and an entertainment area. But the grand spectacle is still the beating of the waves of the sea and the boats bathed in the golden light of the summer.

Another look at the fortress of Akershus , which once again demonstrates the harmony of the city with nature , is all the more worthwhile.

The itinerary from north to south is a compendium of Norwegian nature; thundering water-falls, rushing mountain streams and roads that run along glacier, after having gone through dense pine forests and coastal lakes and fjord.

The interior of the country is incredibly rugged and Cartier Replica almost one third of it is covered with trees. Despite its northern latitude, the Norwegian climate is essentially maritime and damp, because it is influenced by the mitigating action of the warm Gulf Stream, originating from the Gulf of Mexico, which flows up the coast preventing the formation of sea ice.

Bergen, a port lying in the southeast of the country, is crowded with brightly coloured houses, which belongs to German traders of the powerful Hanseatic League. Despite several fires, the area maintains the atmosphere of the” old port” and commercial city from the Middle Ages. UNESCO recently declared it a world heritage site and included it on the list of monuments that are to be preserved.

There is a large park in the centre of Bergen which is taken up almost completely by an octagonal lake, around which, lie some of the principal museums in the city.

The Hakonshallen, the most beautiful monument in the city, lies within the walls of Bergen’s fortress. The great 13th century Gothic hall was built for the parties and the receptions in the days of the city’ s control over trade in the North Sea.

You get the best view over Bergen, the fjord and the surrounding pine-covered mountains from the Belvedere. It* s easy to admire Norwegians for their unique way of respecting the nature!
From north to south, from Lapland to Oslo and Bergen, Norwegian people have convinced us, with time, that human beings, as the most advanced yet most vulnerable the grand family of nature, can live in harmony with all its other members.

Laser Tattoo Removal for that Embarrassing BMW Emblem Tattoo You Got When You Were Drunk

Tattoos are permanent body decorations and many people fail to realize this when they decide to get the BMW emblem inked onto their left butt cheek. Failing to think things through can really come to haunt later in life when we’re forced to mature and settle down in a monotonous office job. Well if you’ve been experiencing some regrets then you can always get laser tattoo removal. It won’t be fun and it won’t be cheap, but hey at least there are still some options out there for us.

  1. First select a dermatologist in your area for your removal. You may need a referral from your doctor or you may want to ask around and see if any of your friends or coworkers has done it.
  2. Before putting down any real money, get an honest assessment of your rate of success. Certain inks and skin types make removal difficult. People with fair skin often have the highest rates of successful removal. Tattoos located on the arms, chest, buttocks and legs are the easiest places for removal. Newer tattoos are also much more difficult to remove than older ones.
  3. Be aware that laser removal is quite expensive and you will have to budget appropriately. Cost is generally determined by the overall size of the tattoo as well as its color.
  4. Laser removal will likely take several sessions, spread over four to eight weeks, so you’ll have to make room in your schedule for it. Your skin will be numbed during the process and the area will likely be sore for quite a while after the procedure. A scab will also form in most cases.
