Exposed Acne Treatment
As we all spend more time chasing our dream career, studying for exams and perfecting our jobs, we tend to neglect our skin and put off pampering ourselves thinking that there just never is time. More often than not, acne forms on our skin making it quite unpleasant especially for those who are conscious about their appearances.
Acne is formed when dirt on the surface of the skin clogs the pores. This can be avoided by repeating the 3 steps of cleansing, toning and moisturizing daily and exfoliating weekly. But once acne does pop up and all you’re tempted to do is squeeze it away, stop! The first step to acne treatment is to NOT squeeze or scratch them off as it can cause permanent scarring.
There are basically two ways to treat acne; home remedies with natural ingredients or with shelf products that have received good reviews and proven effectives. For home remedies, try a honey mask once or twice a week. Honey because it has antibacterial properties and great for unclogging pores. At the same time, its natural properties work gently on the skin as well. Aside from that, Aloe Vera, lavender oil, a paste formed with blended garlic, a mixture of rose water and sandalwood paste or powdered Neem can work as well. Apply it to the skin for about 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
When it comes to shelf products, trial and error shows that the most effective brand would be Proactive, as it is the most recognized treatment for acne. It was developed by dermatologist and works in three ways. It gently exfoliates the skin and provides anti-bacterial benzoyl peroxide which works wonders on acne, it removes dead skin cells, unclogs pores and removes excess traces of oil from the face and it also has benzoyl peroxide to heal existing blemishes and prevent further breakouts from occurring.
Besides that, if you’d like to try other products don’t just rely on chemicals but instead mix science with nature. Find products that contain benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil, olive tree extract, jojoba oil and has minimal fragrance. This is so because these are the ingredients that have the highest acne fighting properties.
It’s never easy to maintain good and healthy skin, but by taking a few minutes each day to pamper your face you should have no problem at all. While you care for the surface of your skin, don’t forget to care for what’s underneath it as well. Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and get sufficient sleep daily. After all, what’s healthy on the inside shows on the outside.
