Choose a Dress For the Mother of the Bride

The spotlight of any wedding will be on the bride, of course. But another woman that all people will be looking at is her mother, more aptly titled the mother of the bride. Dressing up the mother of the bride is also no easy task. But there are many styles of mother of the bride dresses to choose from so choosing one that will be perfect for her will be a doable task.

The mother of the bride should discuss selection of dresses with her daughter a long time in advance. It’s best to start preparing these things at least six months ahead as this will leave plenty of time for all parties to select and order. There will also be adequate time for special features, alterations and so on to be scheduled if necessary. Custom wedding dresses do take quite a while to prepare and you want to be sure that each of the principal figures has a beautiful wedding dress for the big day.

Color is also a consideration when it comes to dressing the mom. Obviously she’s not going to want to wear any mother of the bride outfits in white. That color should only be worn by the bride. A nice touch is for the mother of the bride to wear something that complements the color worn by the bridal attendants. For instance if the bridesmaids are wearing purple, she should consider mother of the bride outfits in a shade of violet. This helps tie the entire color scheme of the wedding together and looks wonderful in the wedding pictures.
