One needs to know what he/she wants. Know what ingredients to use in order to make a good soap. Lye is one of the key ingredients in how to make a homemade soap. You have to dissolve it first in water. Proportions would be 1 lye is to 2 water. Measure it in ounces. So 10 ounces of lye is to 30 ounces. Lye. Slowly add the lye into the water; it would be ideal if you do it outdoors.
It will then undergo a process called saponification wherein the lye mixture is allowed to cool then will soon heat up because of its reactions. In a separate bowl, melt also coconut oil or you can have other oils if you like together with vegetable shortening. You can add fragrances of choice.
Cool down the oils, after which you can combine the lye mixture to the oil mixture. Stir as slow as you can and stir until bubbles disappear. If you want to put color, a few granules of herbs, fruits you like then just take a small portion of the soap mixture then add the ingredients. After which you can combine it to the original mixture. You can now mold the soap in the shape that you want. Set aside the soap for about 30 hours, wiggling it once in a while.
You can enjoy your own homemade soap after one and a half day. Cut it into desired sizes and wait for another 3 weeks before using it. How to make homemade soap is not difficult but it usually takes time and needs patience to do it. You can add a few twists to your soap if you like, it is your choice.
