Salon Standards!
Going to a new salon or visiting for the first time us girls really do need to feel happy with what treatments are going to be performed and that we are in a safe enviroment.
I have been a Beauty Therapist for 14 years and own my own Salon. From day one I know that the Salon has to be above all in the very best clean state and that we meet/ exceed all standards expected by anyone who walks in the front door.
How do you know how good the salon is?
If you are planning to visit a salon for the first time and are phoning to book an appointment always ask what therapist is going to be doing the treatment. Ask how long they have been trained, how often they perform the treatment you want, and how long they will take to do the treatment. IE Full leg wax and bikini tidy should take an experienced therapist approximately 45 minutes, and slightly longer for an inexperienced therapist. Anything over an hour a junior our very inexperienced therapist!
If visiting a salon to book an appointment do not be afraid to check the beauty rooms out. Check the trolleys are clean, if you see any products with the names of Sterex, Barbicide, Surgical spirit, Witch Hazel, then this is a good sign. check the Towels and floor, and skirting boards. If they appear are unclean, then that generally means they do not have high hygiene standards which should be a warning to you.
If you are having Electrolysis, ask if they are using disposable needles. All salons should use disposable needles. Also all beauty treatments should have a full consultation, especially Electrolysis and all electrical treatments as the have a lot of contra-indications.
