Americas Next Top Model Auditions 2010

One of the biggest shows on TV right now is Americas Next Top Model.  Hosted by Tyra Banks, a model herself, the show searches the country for the next big television and movie stars, as well as models.  Unfortunately, auditions for the 2010 run were finished on April 10, 2010.  They will be resuming auditions for the show in early 2011, and the schedule will be posted then.

Getting on the show is easier said than done.  There are literally thousands of contestants, all going after the coveted spot, and the competition can be very fierce.  After “The apprentice”, Americas Next Top Model brings in a staggering 100,000 prime contestants, all fighting to get to the top.  Read my short list of what to do and what not to do if you decide to audition. 

So you Want to Be on America’s Top Model?

Auditions for the show usually take place in a mall or convention center, and run from 10 am – 3 pm.  They are operated under the guidelines of the show, and many of the judges are actually producers of the show.

One thing you need to realize is there is an age and height requirement.  As of May 2010, you need to be at least 5′ 7″ or taller, and be between the ages of 18 – 27.  The ideal candidate should also be articulate, intelligent, and well rounded.  You also need to be a US citizen and cannot have been involved in any professional modeling in the past 5 years.

Quick Tips to Get on the Show

As with all modeling agencies, you need to be a well rounded individual, and not just a pretty face.  Gone are the days when all you needed was to be 6′ tall, 110 pounds, and have a plastic face.  They want to see women that are competitive, involved in sports, a good academic background, and be able to carry themselves with grace.

You really need to make sure your are not overly confident, as many judges can see right through this.  Most of the characters that make it onto Americas Next Top Model are simple women with a unique background.
