Acuvue 1 Day Moist Contact Lenses
Acuvue 1 Day Moist Contact Lenses are great for people who are either challenged by allergy symptoms and specifically allergic conjunctivitis (ocular discomfort, itchy eyes, eye redness and watery eyes) or have difficulty wearing other contact lenses because of dry eyes. Many contact lens wearers are bothered by allergy symptoms so much that they either completely stop wearing contact lenses or significantly reduce the wearing time. We always advise our patients to follow these simple rules to increase comfort and maximize their success while wearing contact lenses:
1. Frequent hand washing and shampooing go a long way in reducing the allergens on people’ hands, face and hair. Make sure you always wash your hands before you touch your eyes.
2. Use lubricating drops to flush away allergens present on the lenses (ask your doctor for suggestions, there are plenty of excellent drops out there) and to make your eyes feel much more comfortable.
3. Make sure you rub and rinse your lenses well upon removal to remove all allergens present on the lenses (this applies to even “No Rub Multi Purpose Solutions”). Also, talk to your doctor about switching you to a hydrogen peroxide- based solution- it works very well for most allergy sufferers.
4. A perfect option is daily disposable lenses such Acuvue 1 Day Moist. Although, they are typically more expensive, they provide the least stress for an allergic eye. A fresh lens used each day means you are not exposed to as much allergens, lens deposits and solution preservatives. And best of all- you don’t need to worry about cleaning, storing etc. Ask your doctor if daily lenses are right for you!
Don’t be discouraged-contact lenses can still be worn successfully especially if you are fitted for daily disposable lenses.
