How To Choose A Good Party Dress
Most women like to party. This is the reason why in women’s wardrobe, party dresses are always present. Fair enough, you should have one ready when an urgent party invitation arrives. You would not want to cram in a boutique looking for a party dress to wear.
There are many types of party dresses. There are those that can be worn in a formal party. There are also those that are perfect for cocktail parties. Still there are those that can be worn for informal and friendly parties. If you are a party goer yourself, you should have at least a couple of party dresses for each.
When you buy party dresses, remember the following pointers:
- Don’t buy overly decorated party dress. Some party dresses that you can find in boutiques are overly decorated. They may be too sparkling. You are not a Barbie doll, so don’t wear one like that – well, unless the party is a Barbie themed party.
- Simplicity is beauty. Always bear this in mind when you buy party dresses. The simpler, the better. As much as possible, choose a party dress in one colour. The little black dress is always a favourite and it works in almost all kinds of parties.
- Refrain from buying printed party dresses. This is not the 60’s anymore. Printed dresses are mostly things of the past. But if you are attending a 60’s inspired party, go printed. When choosing a printed party dress, consider your body type. Don’t get a party dress with large prints if you have a big body figure. On the other hand, refrain from buying party dress with tiny prints if your body is way too slim.
- The length of the party dress should depend on your height. Don’t get a long party dress if you are short of height. On the other hand, don’t choose a very short party dress if you are quite too tall. If you do, your legs will look very long and this can make your upper body look very short – talk about body disproportion.
- The colour of the party dress also matters. Don’t get too loud colours for formal parties. As mentioned, black is a good option for party dresses. If you are attending a cocktail party or a garden party, light colours are good options as well.
When buying party dresses, consider the length, style, design, and colour.
