A common complication that occurs with getting a neck lift is developing an allergic reaction to anesthesia. You should always inform your surgeon what you’re allergic to during consultation. But if you’re unaware of your allergies to anesthesia, and end up with itching, an irregular heartbeat, nausea or difficulty breathing after surgery, let your doctor know right away.
Other complications include scarring and hematoma. Both conditions can either be minimized or treated. Infections can also occur, and antibiotics may have to be administered by a healthcare professional.

Recovery takes time, and it’s essential that you have patience throughout the entire process. There are different kinds of neck lift surgical procedures, and these include liposuction, cervicoplasty, and platysmaplasty.
Liopsuction
Pain killers and drugs may be employed to minimize pain and the risk of infection. Follow dietary guidelines and restrict physical activity as recommended by your doctor. Usually, you can already take your bandage out after the day of your surgery, but you should wear an elastic type of garment in the evenings for a minimum of 2 weeks as suggested by your doctor.
Cervicoplasty
Post-op care is similar to care for liposuction recovery.
Platysmaplasty
You may take oral pain killers and antibiotics to minimize pain and combat infection, as prescribed by your doctor. If you experience stomach pains or unusual symptoms you should inform your doctor right away to avoid neck lift complications.
