Does size still matter

Does size still matter?

According to the 2007 ‘Obesity in US Adults’ report from the Center of Disease Control more and more Americans are tipping the scales with 25.6% of US citizens indicating obesity as a significant public health problem.   In Michigan we tip the scales at 27.7% according to the same report by the CDC. Among American women the average dress size is not the size 0 you see on most runways, but a size 14 is in most women’s closets. This is also the same dress size that most plus size clothing lines begin at. Which is causing clothing industry retailers to see a surge in a demand for beautiful and bold clothing options for today’s women. According to Packaged Facts retailers can expect $100 billion in sales by 2012 in the plus size women girls and men’s big tall clothing division. This demand is also causing growth even during a recession for retailers catering to the younger, hipper plus size market. For example plus size retailer Torrid started out as a mall based store and website in 2001 as an offshoot of the mall-popular store Hot Topic. Today Torrid has over 170 stores in operation across 36 states in the United States and its sales and popularity are continuing to soar. So it would appear that society is becoming more accepting of people of all sizes.

                                                                       The weight of the matter?

However consider the following; in 2008 Time Magazine discovered a team of researchers from Yale University who polled 1,100 subjects over a span of a decade with an age range of 35 to 74 who saw an increase of discrimination from 7% to 12%. When applying to colleges for a scholarship, renting or buying a home in a neighborhood they desired, applying for a bank loan, or even when dealing with the police. Locally a Michigan State University study found overweight women are 16 times more likely to experience discrimination than men in the workplace. “What this research indicates is that we have different standards for men and women. We are less accepting of overweight women.” says Researcher Shaun Pichler.

The good news is because of Plus Size revolutionaries like Emme, Mia Tyler, and most notably plus size model Velvet D’Amour who made history in 2007 on the runway of French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier more opportunities and acceptance of bigger bodies is occurring. This spring Fox Network launched the first ever dating show for single plus size women with “More to Love”. Even today’s men are expanding their image of beauty with more and more plus size dating sites and parties emerging all over the world.

In Michigan there is a surge of plus size organizations like Full Fabulous who is entering their 26th year. The founder and president Sharon DuMas-Pugh “Started Full Fabulous to create a vehicle where plus size women and girls could express their feelings about how plus size people are treated. We provide a safe haven so that they can heal and offer solutions to build their self-esteem.” One of the solutions this organization is providing to the community is annual events that focus on self empowerment, body image, and making healthier choices. Their annual Expo formerly entitled The Health, Beauty Self-Esteem Expo will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Art Van Showroom in Southfield at 22555 Southfield Rd, from 8:30am – 3:00pm. With fun, food, fashion, and exercise for all ages and sizes this is a not to be missed event. “Our Expo is different from others because everything we do is to inspire and uplift plus size girls ages  8–17 yrs old. The statistics are staggering Young girls are more afraid of becoming fat than they are of nuclear war, cancer, or losing their parents. 50% of 9-year-old girls and 80% of 10-year-old girls have dieted. 90% of high school junior and senior women diet regularly, even though only between 10% and 15% are actually over the weight recommended by the standard height-weight charts. Girls develop eating and self-image problems before drug or alcohol problems; there are drug and alcohol programs in almost every school, but no eating disorder programs” says Full and Fabulous President. “When the girls walk on stage with other Fabulous plus size women they are able to realize that it all starts with the first step, loving thy self unconditionally and no matter what size you are you can still  be Full Fabulous!” says Mrs. DuMas-Pugh. Indeed more powerful than beauty or brains is a confident and courageous woman who is comfortable in her own body.

What is weight loss psychology

What is Weight Loss Psychology

The following paragraphs summarize the work of Weight Loss Psychology experts who are completely familiar with all the aspects of Weight Loss. Heed their advice to avoid any diet surprises.
If you find yourself confused by what you have read to this point, don not despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.
You see the razor thin models gracing the covers of magazines, you watch actors and actresses on the big screen who seem to never gain a pound. And you wonder How do I differ from them You may be surprised to learn that a number of famous people at one time had difficulty maintaining a healthy weight. But they were able to conquer their problem, thanks to a new and improved, healthy view of eating.
You may not realize it, but there is a certain psychology at work in successful weight loss. It is no surprise, then, that the magazine Psychology Today has explored the issue in depth. In October of , the magazine posted an article on its website detailing the experiences of Diane Berry, a nurse practitioner who studied women who had shed at least  pounds and had maintained their weight loss for an average of seven years.
The women shared some important things in common. For instance, they all achieved their weight loss through either Weight Watchers or TOPS, which meant that they had a firm support network as they tried to maintain their weight. The group meetings were highly important, because they learned to recognize that they were certainly not alone in their struggles with weight. The women were also quite unusual because up to  percent of individuals who have lost weight end up putting it back on within five years.
Another common trait of these women is that they appeared to undergo a profound mood shift as they made the transition from fat to thin. From all indications, they appeared to be depressed when they were heavy but, as they attempted to lose weight, their mood brightened.
For these women, healthy eating became a habit a habit they refused to break. They themselves recognized the tremendous role that psychology plays in weight loss. They refused to give in to negative feelings of frustration and denial and chose a positive path instead. The women also made it a point to weigh them regularly so that they could chart their progress.
And they recognized that maintaining weight loss would be a lifetime struggle. They knew that they could not attempt a weight loss program then put it back on the shelf. They had to learn new eating patterns that they could continue week in and week out. In some cases, they likened their struggle to that of an alcoholic. In other words, they recognized the gravity of their problem and took steps to correct the situation.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of these women is experiences was the fact that their weight loss actually came in spurts. At times, they regained their weight, but they did not let that deter them from their final goal. They simply viewed their setbacks as challenges that they needed to overcome. This may be the key psychological trait that separates successful dieters from unsuccessful ones perseverance. In essence, these women were able to change their personalities in a positive way in order to achieve their long term weight loss goals.
Another interesting aspect of this study was that it showed that the women who had undergone weight loss transformation were genuinely happy. This show the tremendous psychological impact that weight loss can have on an individual. Once an individual is free from the burden of extra weight, he or she is better able to meet the challenges of life head on. The dieter benefits from positive reinforcement, as relatives, friends, and coworkers congratulate him or her for the weight loss. In this way, losing weight can be quite a life affirming experience and can lead to a more optimistic outlook on life.

Mister imagination

Mister Imagination

There were very few places in the world that Jules Verne, the writer, did not visit. He went round the world a hundred times or more. Once he did it in eighty days, un-heard of in the nineteenth century. He voyaged sixty thou-sand miles under the sea, toured around the moon, explored the center of the earth, and chatted with natives in Australia.

Jules Verne, the man, was a stay-at-home. He was more likely to be tired from writing than from traveling. He did make a few visits to Europe and North Africa. And he made one six-week tour of New York State. But Cartier Replica that was all. He spent less than one of his seventy-seven years really traveling. Yet he was the world’s most extraordinary tourist.

His books are crowded with hunting and fishing expeditions. Jules actually went hunting only once. Then he raised his gun and shot off the guard’s hat!

He never held a test tube in his hand. But he was an inspiration to the scientist in the laboratory. Long before radio was invented, he had TV working in his books. His name for it was photo telephoto. He had helicopters fifty years before the Wright brothers flew their first plane at Kitty Hawk. In fact, there were few wonders of the twentieth century that this man of the nineteenth century did not foresee(BUS,). In his stories you can read about neon lights, moving sidewalks air conditioning^^), skyscrapers, guided missiles, tanks, electrically operated submarines(Jf|7KJi?), and airplanes.

Many people took his ideas seriously. One reason was that he wrote about these wonderful things in such exact details. Learned men would argue with him. Experts in mathematics would spend weeks checking his figures. When his book about going to the moon was published, Five hundred persons volunteered for the next expedition.

Perhaps the best known of all his books is Around the World in Eighty Days. It first appeared as a serial in a Paris newspaper. Its hero had made a bet that he could circle the globe in eighty days, and his progress aroused great interest.

In every country of Europe people made bets on whether the imaginary Mr. Fog would arrive in London in time to win his bet. Verne kept the popular interest alive. His hero rescued a widow from death and fell in love with her. He was attacked by Indians while crossing the American plains. Arriving in New York, he saw the ship that was to take him to England disappearing over the horizon without him.

All the big steamship companies offered Verne large sums of money if he would put Fog on one of their ships. The author refused. Instead, he had Cartier Santos Replica Fog charter a ship. As the world held its breath. Fog reached London with only minutes to spare.

Many of Verne’s other books were set in the future. In these stories, people made diamonds and developed a kind of automobile-ship-helicopter-plane. They received news flashes on televisions, worked in giant skyscrapers, and rode to work on highways much like the ones we ride today. It is hard to believe that the books were written nearly one hundred years ago.

Jules Verne had lived to see many of his fancies come true. But this had not surprised him, For he had once said: “What one man can imagine, another man can do.”

Acne no more acne treatment reviews

Acne No More – Acne Treatment Reviews

Acne No More is the #1 best selling acne ebook in the history of the Internet for a reason…

Thousands of women and men of every age have completely cured their acne condition and achieved lasting clear skin naturally, without drugs, over the counters, creams or “magic potions,” simply by using the clinically proven, scientifically-accurate step by step method found inside this amazing acne freedom guidebook.

Mike Walden, a certified nutritionist, health consultant and author has not just pumped out yet another “acne cure program” into an already over-saturated market. Mike’s Acne No More can be more accurately described as an “Acne Bible.” It is quite simply one of the most comprehensive, complete, and precise guides to acne freedom you will ever read. What makes it so much different than other clear skin publications on the market?

Well first of all, it’s not just a “acne relief” or “skin care” program, it’s a holistic acne cure program. This may seem like semantics or wordplay at first, but once you’ve read just the first chapters, there will be no doubt in your mind that pursuing “acne relief” is not only the wrong goal, it may be the reason that you’ve failed to stop and maintain your ‘acne free internal environment’. Acne No More shows you exactly why you should fix the internal problem that’s causing your acne, not just masking the symptoms or getting relief and then goes on to show you exactly how to do it.

Secondly, what makes Acne No More different is the amount of attention that is paid to each and every element required to achieve permanent freedom from acne symptoms and from hormonal and toxic overload disorders. Acne No More not only thoroughly discusses the lies, myths and fallacies surrounding a very confusing subject, it is simply the most detailed book about acne, blackheads, and hormonal health and inner balance ever written.

The Acne No More book is quite extensive (223 pages of rock solid content) which focuses on 100% natural acne treatment. That means there aren’t recommendations for harsh prescription drugs with nasty side effects. In Acne No More core formula section (The 5 pillars) – Nothing is held back. In this section, Mike gives a detailed overview of each step, and then dives into the specifics in a perfect chronological order. There are also outstanding charts and checklists which make it very easy to know where you are at in the program and follow it.

Because the Acne No More program is not a quick fix ‘fairy tale’ cure but a complete holistic solution aimed at eliminating the root cause of acne and digestive disorders (regardless of their severity) and ensure your will permanently be acne-free, it does take work and persistence to complete. “The dictionary is the only place success comes before work” says Mike, as he emphasizes the “no quick fix” philosophy behind the entire book.

If there is any drawback to the Acne No More ebook, it’s that it contains so much information, that some readers may find it a bit overwhelming. Those who are looking for a quick start type of acne program, might be a bit intimated at first. The good part however, is that even these types of readers can feel confident and assured that it will be worth the effort because this will literally be the last book they ever have to buy on the subject.

Who will benefit most from Acne No More?

In the broadest sense, anyone and everyone who needs to cure their acne and regain their natural inner balance will benefit from Acne No More.

This ebook is honestly for everyone. Even people without acne. This is a total health rejuvenation program better than 98% of the nutrition and alternative health books on the market.

In terms of graphic design, Acne No More is a clean and professionally formatted PDF e-book. It is well organized and ideal for printing and reading in the comfort of your own home.

This impressive and unique publication has changed many lives and the hundreds of inspiring testimonials and success stories are found on the Acne No More website archives as proof.

Anyone looking for a quick fix solution to acne, anyone looking to be told fairy-tales, and anyone looking for a “magic bullet”, acne pills, over the counters, ‘acnefreedom in 3 days’ hyped up programs should not waste his or her time with Acne No More.

On the other hand, anyone searching for the truth about acne and his natural inner balance and who is ready and willing to put in some work and make the lifestyle changes necessary to achieve acne freedom, will find Acne No More to be one of the best investments they ever made in their lives.
